After a very interesting two weeks, The Campingland Dig will close on Friday 19th August.

Thanks to the support of our team of volunteers, and Supervising Archaeologist we have done as much as we can in the two trenches we have excavated and there is not time to excavate a third.

Although the team has for nearly two weeks in blistering heat the weather is now against us.

We have learnt a lot about life on Campingland over the centuries and although we have not found anything of great value or beauty it appears that we have dug down to Bronze Age level in one trench.

All of our finds will be verified by an expert, following which we will release more information about the results of the Dig.
